The upper bulb is filled with fine sand, which slides down to the lower bulb, measuring the required time during the process. By filling the lower bulb and emptying the upper bulb, time is measured.
What is The History of Mechanical Watches?
About 700 years ago, the mechanical clock appeared in Europe. It operated using ascending and descending weights to measure elapsed time through the continuous movement of gears. However, these early clocks did not display time with hands; instead, they emitted sound signals every hour. Their accuracy was limited, as the signal could be delayed by about fifteen minutes per day.
